I have two Macs that I would like to connect directly together: Mac 512ke and a Mac //. I have a DB-9 -> DIN nulled cable and I am connecting printer port to printer port. Everything seems to work great if I power up the older Mac first and then the Mac //. I get to use Public Folder, multi-player games work, etc. BUT, when the Mac // is powered up first, and I turn the power switch of the Mac 512 on, I get no response at all. No system beep, no Sad Mac icon, *NOTHING*. I am completely perplexed about this. If anyone has any insight on this problem, PLEASE let me know. I generally don't turn my older Mac on, and when I do, the Mac // is almost always on. I don't want to power the Mac // down every time I want to turn my 512 on.
