Message-ID: <1004@ac.dal.ca> Date: 9 Dec 89 14:56:05 GMT Lines: 24 Organisation: Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Pardon me for sounding uninformed... I'm a somewhat naive newcomer to not only the network, but also the NeXT. I'm a first-year undergraduate student in Nova Scotia, and I recently attended a seminar on the NeXT, which demonstrated many of its "flashier" abilities. My problem is this: I still use my old Apple //e, but I'm experienced on the IBM, Macintosh, Amiga and some workstation-type computers. Until recently, I was dead-set on the Mac2 as a choice for a new computer. Then along came the NeXT. From what I saw, it can do anything the Mac2 can, at a marginally higher cost (if you include the accessories one must add to the Mac2. Beyond this, I'm a student, so I get student rates -- around $6,500 Canadian without the OHD. I know I'm asking an unobjective group (I'd get a far different response from a bunch of Mac users :-)) -- but what do you think I should do? I'll want it for business applications, DTP, graphics and sound. I hear there's a color board in the works ... and I don't mind saying my loyalty to the //e makes me want to support Woz or Jobs -- and Jobs has outdone his peers this time round. Markum.
