Check this out: koh-sun5:18:~ ypcat passwd | wc -l 10320 Over 10,000 passwd entries. Sun accounts come with engineering class registration, so probably less than 20% ever get used, but that's interesting nevertheless. There are between 100 and 200 clients, mostly 3/50s installed about two years ago, and the file/mail/print servers are: usc.edu IN HINFO Sun-4/280 Unix_SunOS-4.0.3 ; 86400 chaph.usc.edu IN HINFO Sun-4/390 Unix_SunOS-4.0.3 ; 86400 aludra.usc.edu IN HINFO Sun-4/280 Unix_SunOS-4.0.3 ; 86400 girtab.usc.edu IN HINFO Sun-4/280 Unix_SunOS-4.0.3 ; 86400 alcor.usc.edu IN HINFO Sun-3/280 Unix_SunOS-4.0.3 ; 86400 castor.usc.edu IN HINFO Sun-3/280 Unix_SunOS-4.0.3 ; 86400 nunki.usc.edu IN HINFO Sun-3/280 Unix_SunOS-4.0.3 ; 86400 pollux.usc.edu IN HINFO Sun-3/280 Unix_SunOS-4.0.3 ; 86400 Anyone seen larger YP passwd maps? Our host map has 7608 entries. (Client Suns currently use YP for host lookup without any DNS interface.) Happy Holidays, Gary
