Speaking of Logitech equipment, can anyone tell me (hopefully from
experience) as to whether or not installing their scanner will result in
the non-functionality of either com[12] serial ports?

I remember reading one test of scanners a while ago [PC Magazine,
11/29/89], in which several of the scanners ("The Complete Hand
Scanner" and the Packard Bell "PS100") resulted in port addressing
conflicts (IRQ3 and/or IRQ5, rendering com1 and/or com2 unusable)
Unfortunately, only the older Scanman (non "plus" model) was tested.
