I have a MacIIcx, 4M RAM, 80M hard disk, running A/UX 1.1. At the
moment, the machine is hooked up to a direct modem (through the NIM)
to the campus wide network. Since the network only understands IP,
the best that I can do is to set up a SLIP environment for the Mac.
I tried to follow the manual, but the manuals keep referring to a
slip-server.  My problem is that I cannot identify the slip-server.
I can tell the modem (or the NIM it is connecting to) to switch to 
slip mode, but I don't know how to tell A/UX that the modem is ready
to accept slip packets.  I have some applications that make use of
system calls like socket, bind, etc. I would like to know how to
direct these functions to use the modem and make them send slip
packets to the network. BTW, the modem has a fixed, unique internet
address.  So, I can use that address as the Mac's internet address
(or can I ?)

Will someone out there please help me with this one? I really need
a solution as soon as possible.  Thanks in advance for any kind help.

(P.S. Is there a manual reference for /etc/slattconf ?  I cannot find
it in the command reference.)
