We are developing an application that keeps the user from ever getting access to the UNIX system directly. The user can request to run a report and direct the output to any of several destinations. 1) on a spooler printer (going through the lp system) 2) on an attached printer (attached to the terminal) 3) sent to a file. 4) queued for night running. Some reports can be as much as 20mb in size. We obviously don't want that size job going to a dot matrix printer (which is the normal spooler type printer. What we need, is if the job is going to the spooling system, to redirect it to a laser printer if the size of the job exceeds a specific limit. We are currently running on an Amdahl using UTS 1.2.3 (soon upgrading to UTS 2.0, the equivalent of system V release 3.1). if anyone has any suggestions on how to solve this problem, please email them directly to me. Thanks in advance. Philip Hall Data-Prompt Inc. Silver Spring Md. 20904 uunet!dprmpt!phil
