Message-ID: Date: 9 Dec 89 22:00:55 GMT Sender: news@math.lsa.umich.edu Organization: University of Michigan Math Dept., Ann Arbor MI. Lines: 23 I don't see any comp groups that are for book reviews, though it's not unusual to see a book review on the net. Some are positive, some are negative, but they tend to be pretty good: it's not unusual to see something like <8912090641.AA23851@trident.arc.nasa.gov>, Peter Yee's review of Marshall Rose's "The Open Book: A Practical Perspective on OSI," and squirrel it away for future reference. But it's in comp.protocols.tcp-ip, and not everyone reads that group, even though they might read the comp.protocols.osi.* groups and be interested in that review. These full-scale reviews run from 30 to 100 lines or so long, appear probably a couple of times a week in comp.*, and would not be out of place in any highly literate trade press if such a thing were to exist. Unfortunately they're scattered all throughout the net. Ideas ? I'd repost it into alt.book-reviews if it existed, are there existing groups which could be pressed into service ? comp.doc doesn't seem to fit the bill, nor comp.doc.techreports (though that may be closer, let me look -- no, nothing in my spool file to let me know what's there.). --Ed
