all i said was that people in power must have some significant friends.  no
one can survive if 97% of the people they rule hate them.  now, ceaucescu
wasn't very popular, but there must have been a substantial minority that
was benefitting from his rule.

if a dictator has no real friends, any credible coup attempt will do the
leader in.  ceaucescu had friends.  yes, a big majority opposed him, but he
must have had friends.

i don't follow.  are you implying that castro has no support in cuba?  i'm
sure he does.  i'm not claiming a majority, but a significant minority at
least.  one of the reason the bay of pigs invasion failed was because
popular cuban support for an overthrow didn't materialize.
