This past fall, I had the opportunity to go to northern Michigan (lower peninsula) to fish for coho salmon in the Platte River area. As this was my first experience at this, I felt obliged to follow the 'When in Rome...' rule. I caught and saw caught numerous fish. I never saw one fish caught in anything resembling a legal manner. When asked, everyone said 'The only way to cd snagging is the only way to catch them. Is this the case? If so, then why doesn't the DNR enforce the law or give it up? I'm not trying to enrage anyone here. I just want to know how a guy is supposed to catch the things and I figured I could get a straigt answer here if anywhere. Thanks for your help.
