I would just like to say that I have been in this situation several times
where it was clear to me that sex was not on the agenda.  And once (with
my best friend's girlfriend) where sex could have been on the agenda but
we sort of mutually decided (after much hugging and kissing) that there
was no way he could handle it and we both loved him too much to upset him
that much.  They're married now, and we're still very close.  Sometimes
I wonder ...

And of course, on the rare occasion that a lesbian friend of mine puts
me in this situation, I can be sure it's only company that she wants.
(If it isn't, it's her job to tell me so.)
