  I just thought I'd add my $.05(inflation,you know.). The practice of multiple
wives came about from the 'survival of the fittest' deal. No matter how hard a
woman tries, she can only reproduce at most once every 9 months. A man, however
is fertile during those 9 months and can impregnate others. Thus, the best males would have harems, increasing their contribution to the gene pool. It has to dowith out dated customs and physical differences, not sexism.
