Many women are more receptive(?) . . . god, what a weasel worded way of saying it . . . more horny . . . during their periods than at other times. It appears to be related to the mild vasocongestion that usually takes place in the pelvic area then, and sexual arousal being basically a vasocongestive phenomenon . . . things get interesting. Of course some women experience cramps and such and that tends to put them in a non-sexual mood. Lots of men are quite happy to 'do it' at that time, and some are positively attracted. Also, the percentage of men who fit into these categories seems to be going steadily upward as cultural sexual prudishness declines. If you end up with a situation where she wants to but he is put off, or where they both want to but are upset by the mess, it can be controlled by a judicious use of tampons before and diaphragm during to the point that he doesn't even realize she's having a period. Also, taking the pill makes this even easier, as it greatly decreases the amount of flow. Carole Ashmore
