I read the book as a teenager, and I was impressed.

Today I know that the book is full with shit.
The information about the STDs was not true (all of them could be
treated when the book was published, AIDS was not around yet),
and the basic claim about gay-sex
(penis + penis = nothing) does not fit too well with reality.

the book tries to "educate" using scare tactics.

I prefer books that give the information and leave the moral judgment *out*.
