Out of curiosity, I finally checked it out, and not only does it have several tragic errors (eg, it claims wimmin get a red flush after orgasm--this only happens to about 30% of us, and right BEFORE orgasm...wonder how many wimmin lost out with lovers who read this thing?) and this book is VERY homophobic and does not understand gay or lesbian people at all. (Note: I'm straight. But one of my gay friends told me he shared this opinion, so I'm sure it's not just me being paranoid.) Furthermore, a lot of the stuff in that book is out of date. For younger people (about 13, say) I recommend THE FACTS OF LOVE AND SEX, sensibly written and complete with a glossary of "lover's terms" (the technical names for genitalia, sex, etc) and "slang terms" which at the tender age of 13 I found very helpful in figuring out what my friends were saying. Good books at a higher level: HOW TO MAKE LOVE TO A WOMAN (surprisingly) FOR EACH OTHER : Lonnie Barbach SHARED INTIMACIES : Lonnie Barnach (just a collection of wimmin's reminiscences and experience of sex) GREAT SEX : Alexandra Penney DELICIOUS SEX : Gael Greene THE JOY OF SEX : Alex (?) Comfort (much too basic and not adventuresome enough for my tastes; seemed to halfway suggest some of my tastes were downright weird, but this *is* a classic) Sorry to put this on a.s.b; but Reuben's book (IMHO) is just not good for anything but laughs. It's not (IMHO) even that well written... --the Wonderbitch
