Certainly. I don't think Harry was being absolute, however, and there are a lot of Ledervo"lker are more knowledgeable about certain parts of the human body than a lot of doctors are. After all, if Otis Bowen can get an MD ... On the other hand, I would agree with Harry wrt these hysterical responses. Yes, we heard them about fisting years ago, and they were and still are bullshit -- not in the sense that there was no truth to them, but in the sense that what truth there was was grossly exaggerated and assumed that there was nobody capable of taking precautions or avoiding potentially damaging actions. Not quite _Reefer_Madness_ but close. And, of course, though these hysterical injunctions are often accompanied by the "I'm a doctor, I know" line, there are always other doctors who not only disagree, but actively practice whatever it is. I have no experience with sounds. I have played with catheters on numerous occaisions, and I'm not real fond of the sensations involved. Hence the lack of experience with sounds. I do know people who regularly play with them, including a couple of MDs. >avoid play with sounds completely, but one would be well advised to be >_really sure_ that one's tops or teachers know what they are doing. > [ ... ] >Often in SM play one is, wittingly or unwittingly, placing one's life >in another's hands. ThankyouThankyouThankyou. I might add that the same is true for bondage (for the people who feel better about themselves by differentiating.) In fact, if there is any *one* thing I would like people to absorb here it is that all these things are potentially dangerous, and that it's peachy keen to get kinky and all but there's a great deal of responsibility involved. Fantasy stories are great, but some of us are here because we actually do these things, and discussing safety and responsibility here is vital. Literally. Play hard, but play safe. As to Hank's question about how to safely do crucifixion scenes, again, folks, this is dangerous stuff. Anyone who is interested in the information can email me and I will give you an address to get detailed info. As far as the net goes, I think I'll take the same position the man working at Taste of Leather took a few years ago when a guy tried to buy scalpels: If you don't know how to use them and what they're for, we're not selling them to you. -- "That's right. And when we're done flaming, we stuff broccoli in our ears and go post in talk.bizarre ... of course we wipe the cheesy stuff off of the broccoli before hand." -- Allen Gwinn
