Note: Parade:1130aes (QUEBEC CITY) The head of Quebec's Equality Party fears the annual St-Jean Baptiste Day Parade could turn into an angry nationalist march against Canada...if the Meech Lake accord fails the day before. Meech Lake must pass by June 23rd of this year or die. St-Jean Baptiste Day is June 24th. Equality Party Leader Robert Libman says a 250-thousand-dollar Quebec government grant for the parade may be part of Premier Robert Bourassa's plan to increase tension on opponents of the constitutional deal...to add fire to Bourassa's theories that there may be repercussions if Meech Lake doesn't pass. Libman points out a quarter-Million dollars for a parade is not justified when Quebec has budget cuts all over the place. hewitt/standard broadcast wire/news quebec city
