DETROIT (UPI) -- Detroit left wing Gerard Gallant was suspended for three games Monday by the National Hockey League for shoving a linesman during the Red Wings' weekend game against the Minnesota North Stars. Gallant received a game misconduct Saturday when he shoved linesman Jerry Pateman during a scuffle with Minnesota's Mark Tinordi. Though Pateman said he knew Gallant's actions were not deliberate, there is a minimum three-game suspension any time a player touches an official. To fill Gallant's roster spot, the Red Wings recalled right wing Randy McKay from their Adirondack farm team in the American Hockey league. McKay has 16 goals and 23 assists in 36 games at Adirondack this season. Gallant joins defenseman Rick Zombo on the suspension list. Zombo received a three-game suspension from the NHL last Monday for slashing Toronto's Al Iafrate. He will begin serving his suspension Tuesday.
