CHICAGO (UPI) -- Chicago Blackhawks center Denis Savard will be out of action for approximately a week, including for Sunday's All-Star Game, because of the sprained left ankle he suffered in Wednesday night's game against Minnesota. Savard sat out practice Thursday and definitely will have to miss the All-Star Game in Pittsburgh, the team said. The six-time All-Star was selected as a reserve on the Campbell Conference squad. Savard, who leads the Blackhawks this season with 63 points, including 21 goals and a team-high 42 assists, suffered the ankle sprain after hitting a rut on the Chicago Stadium ice during the second period of Wednesday night's 3-1 won over the North Stars. X-rays later proved negative. The Blackhawks called up Brian Noonan from their IHL affiliate at Indianapolis to take Savard's spot on the roster.
