I have 6 months experience as a DBA for an Ingres v5.0 installation. I have had
to abort Ingres processes numerous times, both batch jobs and interactive users.

a couple of times this has resulted in the process in question hanging in the RWAST state.

Is there a proper, safe way of avoiding the possibility of leaving these daim
bramaged processes around?
