I flatly refuse to permit any non-standard framing on the University computer network, and the major issue in this area is the Novell packet framing which uses the 802.3 header format but does not include an 802.2 header. I anticipate that if this becomes established here it will lead to major problems when we start implementing the ISO protocols, probably this year sometime. The Novell ECONFIG option, where available, does give Ethernet standard framing, but there seems to be some conflict between Appleshare support and ECONFIG. Walt Haas haas@cs.utah.edu utah-cs!haas
