Has anyone had any experience with two books offered by IEEE in the area of
Digital Image Processing?  The 1989 Spring/Summer Publications Catalog offers
"Digital Image Processing and Analysis, Volume 1: Processing" and "Digital
Image Processing and Analysis, Volume 2: Analysis".  Both are by Rama Chellapa
and Alexander A. Sawchuck in 1985.  

I am a graduate student in Computer Science and have had some experience in
2d and 3d graphics and some basic image processing.  I wish to continue my 
studies in image processing and am seeking some basic reference guides for 
algorithms and concepts.  

Before I spend about $80, I'd like someone's honest opinion.
