check and see if the hp28s will do the job.  it is programmable and uses a
forth like language with an expression stack (algebraic expressions can be
stacked and evaluated) and garbage collection  extensions.  The language was
described at Rochester summer before last and the paper was reprinted I think
in JFAR.  Check w hp to see about custom programming paks.   <dan>
