It failed with a 'rangecheck' so I assume that it can't go faster than 9600 baud. The PS program that Amanda Walker posted did not include the 'exitserver' command that is needed to access the 'statusdict', which is probably a good idea as anyone who doesn't know about 'exitserver' should not be messing with the baud rate anyway.
