One footnote to the current debate - my system has an fd3 that
is a 5.25" drive, physically switchable between 40 & 80 tracks
(360/720K).  In the UK, they are not uncommon.  Any system that
can cope with that (I personally like the idea of setting the
physical hardware at the boot menu) can probably cope with 
anything.
