Summary: Need data about QIC-24 tape drive Message-ID: <1000@metapsy.UUCP> Date: 17 Jan 90 06:23:28 GMT Reply-To: sarge@metapsy.UUCP (Sarge Gerbode) Organization: Metapsychology, Woodside, CA Lines: 18 I have a tape controller that provides a QIC-02 interface (50-line cable). It currently interfaces with a Northern Telecom tape drive that has an attached QIC-24 formatter and therefore produces 60MB on tape (9-track DC600A-type tape). But my tape drive is a lemon and needs replacing. Does anyone have knowledge of a similar tape drive that provides its own QIC-24 formatter and can talk directly to a 50-pin QIC-2 controller. I'm not interested in drives that can write only 120/150 MB tape. My local retail outfit is willing to sell me tape drives but can't answer this question about the drives they have. It's excruciating to operate without a backup. Any data about type and source of such tape drives would be *most* welcome. -- Sarge Gerbode -- UUCP: pyramid!thirdi!metapsy!sarge Institute for Research in Metapsychology 431 Burgess Drive; Menlo Park, CA 94025
