Check out the LS program on Fred Fish disk #236.  The command "ls -R df0:"
will list all the files in the top directory of the floppy, all the
subdirectories, the sub-subdirectories, etc.  It includes sources.  You will
find that, to do the cataloging right, the program cannot "merely read the
directory structure off the disk".  It has to recursively process each
directory it finds, and every directory in those directories, and ...
