"Prove it," you say. Ok.... I have an Apollo 3550 which we are running in the BSD environment. I am trying to use a vt100 window with tip as a terminal emulator to talk to our Vax 11/785 through the serial port. In order to accomplish this task the port must be configured for 8 bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit. Prior to envoking tip I used the Aegis command tctl to check the current port settings and I find that they are just how I would like them to be. After envoking tip, however, the parity has changed from none to even. I attempt to use a ~s command in tip to set parity=none to no avail. When I show all the tip settings using ~s they indicate that parity is set to none. Using tctl however shows that the parity is still even. If, after starting tip, I use the Aegis command tctl -parity none all works well. Why is it that I am not able to change the port characteristics using tip???? I should add that I am using /dev/sio0 for the tip device. I tried /dev/tty01 as well with the same results. Any help/advice that can be offered will be *greatly* appreciated. Much Thanks-- --tim PS: Please don't flame me with RTFM as the machines were delivered *without* a manual set :-( :-( ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Timothy Scharping Internet: tim@GVL.Unisys.COM Unisys Corporation UUCP: ...!uunet!lgnp1!gvlv2!tim Paoli, PA 19301 ...!{gatech,purdue}!psuvax1!burdvax!gvlv2!tim
