Then I installed System Disk 5.0.2. Right away I started having problems. I would get I/O errors when 1) copying large numbers of files onto the drive, 2) locking/unlocking files, 3) enabling/disabling system folder files, 4) renaming files, and 5) moving files from one folder to another when using the Finder program. I lost many files due to these problems, so I backed up what was left and reformatted the drive. As I put everything back on the drive, the problems continued. On several occasions, file copies would not report any errors, but the copies on the hard disk would not work. Other times, the annoying I/O errors would strike in mid-copy. Now, I have most of the stuff back. I/O errors on lock/unlock, enable/disable, and renames seem to have vanished, but they continue to occur whenever large numbers of files are being copied at once and (I suspect, although I haven't tried it for fear of losing more files) when moving files from one folder to another. What's more: ProSel 16 also gives the I/O errors during file copies. Does anyone know what could be the problem? I do not have a driver specifically for the drive (it is referred to as .DEV1 when I boot it up). Do I need a driver for it? Also: where can I get a driver for a Scribe printer? Thanks for your patience. Please leave a response here in the notesfile (I'm new to this thing and don't really know my email address yet!) -- rka20423
