Hello.  A friend of mine, who I am posting for, is considering putting a
Sony optical disk (SCSI) on his Decstation 3100, which runs Ultrix.  He
has been told that it is just a plug-and-play situation, but wants to find
out if it can work BEFORE he buys anything.  Does it need special drivers?
Special cabling?  A particular controller?  Is there some reason it won't
work at all?

Sony SMO-[D,C,S]501 SCSI interface optical disk drive + Decstation 3100/Ultrix

Has anyone integrated these already?  If you have, or can help in some way,
