With or without Code Blue and MS-DOS v3.10b? There was an article by Dennis Forcier in the June '89 issue of _Rainbow News_ about patching the standalone compiler from TURBO C v1.5. It mentions a patch kit available on Compuserve, but not the name. You might also look for it on Dennis' bbs, the Big D Fido (1-214-392-1121). I've developed a similar patch kit for the standalone components of TURBO C v2.0. It's called TC2PATRB.ZIP. When I first put this kit together, I meant to include Jim O'Brien's SCANINT program but forgot about it until just recently. An updated version has been uploaded to the INFO-DEC-MICRO file archives (with the same name). [None of the patches themselves have been changed; only the doc file and executable for SCANINT have been added.] In UUENCODED form it takes up about 13K. Perhaps people could request this file from INFO-DEC-MICRO and add it to their bbs file area once Rob Locke announces it next week. George --- ~ EZ 1.23b4 #263 ~ C code. C code run. Run, code, run... However, after I am done, I haven't been able to leave it in a state in which it can be used by the GWBASIC communications protocols (they hang) or can be used by the communications program, MINITEL. Kermit works OK, however, afterI am done with it. Josh Now all I have to do is get out of this editor. ~q --- . Once loaded into your CONFIG.SYS file, the program "converts" your A: drive to an RX50-compatible format, usually assigning it as D: so the computer knows when you want IBM vs. Rainbow. It not only seems to work better (allowing file transfer in BOTH directions), but also lets you work with the Rainbow's 390K disks instead of 180K. RX50.ARC (or .ZIP) should be available on most boards that carry Rainbow software. Good luck. --Rick --- * Origin: The Rising MoonStar (Opus 1:142/723) ------------------------------ Date: 01-11-90 To: GEORGE THEALL Subject: GATEWAY From: FRANK MALLORY GT> BTW: Since you now can see both sides of the picture, what do you GT> think about the format of the digest? You've insulted Dave Strickler, George Theall and Paul Olson all of whom are more helpful to the Rainbow community than you've EVER been. I've been using the ECHO for about 2 years now. Until your recent whining, the only thing I can recall you doing was play fast and loose with the non-commercialism policy to drum up business for yourself. I find it curious that you have Bruce Jackson's support. His book on Rainbow Freeware was useful, but not worth the price. He never did keep it up-to-date and departed the Rainbow world shortly after publication only to return to send you your *kudos*. If you really care about the 6000 people around the world who have to read your blathering, just depart gracefully -- difficult as that may be. --- * Origin: Glacier Peak Rainbow, Bellevue, WA - 206/644-8431 (Opus 1:343/3) ------------------------------ Date: 01-11-90 To: DAVE SPAULDING Subject: COMMUNICATION PORT ADDRES From: DAVID STRICKLER In a message of < 8 Jan 90 20:50:45>, Dave Spaulding (1:290/627) writes: DS>I have a friend that is trying to run TELIX on his rainbow. I post to INFO-DEC-MICRO which is a discussion group on the BITNET/Internet side of things. Messages are then automagically forwarded to comp.sys.dec.micro, the corresponding newsgroup on USENET. The "Organization" header is merely reporting the message as having originated on the Internet. The distinction between these groups is admittedly blurry in this case, esp. from the reader's point of view. The way you get initial access, though, differs considerably, as does the way messages are transported. You will also find in that list of yours many USENET newsgroups for which there is no equivalent on Internet or BITNET. If you were using the visual editor via ProDoor, you can get out of it by hitting ; if you used the line editor, just hitting on a blank line would do the trick. What's the MPSC? A serial card? Or did you mean a mouse? I know you've been interested in one for your 'bow. I wonder how the folks at Suitable Solutions managed it. BTW: Would you mind telling us about your experiences using Quick C on the Rainbow? You're using v1.0, right? Can you run in the integrated environment? With or without Code Blue and DOS v3.10b? And how's the Rainbow graphics library coming? George --- ~ EZ 1.23b4 #263 ~ C code. C code run. Run, code, run... PLEASE! ------------------------------
