Unfortunately I don't know the orginal poster of this question but assuming that it is a complete Vectra RS/20 involved - the low level format program is part of the Vectra setup utility. This program will not run on other PCs so if the drive and controller are in a non-HP device you'll have to get something like SpeedStor from Storage Dimensions.....
