The one Video 7 based on? I don't think so. Certainly for their latest offerings they use chip sets from Headland since they were bought (or merged) with Headland. | 3. Trident. Used by Logix. | 4. Others. Various manufacturers have their own design, | usually, they claim to be fastest, with lower price the the main | camps. Some other names are C&T, Cirrus, Ahead, ATI, and Oak. How important is performance? Have you ever waited for a screen redraw? | I will appreciate any discussion, pros and cons, recommendation. Also, | which of the screen resolution is the most common? 640*400, 800*600 | and 1024*768 (interlaced? non-interlaced?). Why would I need a 512K | memory on board? Probably the lower resolutions are more common but most modern boards support all the modes you mentioned. You need 512k to do some of the Super VGA modes like 640x480x256. Which resolution you use depends a lot on how much you can afford to spend on the monitor. -- Phil Ngai, phil@diablo.amd.com {uunet, decwrl, ucbvax}!amdcad!phil Peace through strength.
