While using the twocolumn mode in articles, I came across the following problem: i was using both 1-column (figure*) and 2-column(figure) environments. The latex manual claims that figures are never placed out of order. However, I noticed that it placed my figures 1 and 2 (both 2-column) on a floatpage *after* the page on which figure 3 (1-column) appeared. Anyone else seen this? (if not, I could try creating a small example) Any help will be appreciated. Please e-mail replies.
