Sorry I can't offer you a product, but there is a mailing list that I chair whose mission is to come up with a standard for X Terminal support across low bandwidth and/or unreliable links (i.e. RS232, etc.) If you're interested in joining the list, send a message to x-serial-request@lll-crg.llnl.gov.
