	You probably will want to check out the 'contrib' and 'oldcontrib'
directories at  expo.lcs.mit.edu  (18.30.0.212)  for some of these programs
for displaying images with X11:
	xloadimage  -  supports GIF and a number of other formats
	pbmplus	    -  converts image formats between over 20 different
			types!
And from  video.mit.edu  (18.80.0.45)  you may want to look at the most
recent version of  xim.
