Message-ID: <5390.25bd6ba6@elroy.uh.edu> Date: 24 Jan 90 14:47:34 GMT Organization: University of Houston Lines: 20 Has anyone used or seen the tektronics colorQuick ink-jet printer for the mac. I am planning to buy a color printer in the $1000-2000 price range. From what I have read the colorQuick gives much more consistent color output than the HP paintjet, though for quite a bit more money. The main application is to print the results of simulations or experiments where the color would correspond to, say, temperature in a 2-d region, so it's important that the printer be able to accurately display a smooth transition from one color to another. This is the main problem with the paintjet. Its colors don't correspond exactly to the mac palette, for example, to get a pure yellow, your mac color should be something like 75%green, 25%blue, resulting in a greenish color on the screen. (If anyone has the new HP paintjet driver and this problem is resolved, please let me know.) A color bar which varies smoothly from red -> green -> blue looks has bands of light and dark on the HP. Any thoughts on color printing in general would also be welcomed. Thanks
