Pre-emptive miltitasking has nothing to do with it. The Amiga O/S uses pre-emptive multitasking, and I'll put it up for speed and efficiency against that Mac's system software any day. The first time I used a Mac II with a color screen it was distinctly less peppy than my Amiga 1000 with a 7.16 MHz 68000.
