I think that is what people are really asking. Regarding the recent Telix postings, Bill Davidsen, our moderator, decided that there was enough interest in comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d about Telix that it was worth posting. Does the moderator have that right? He posted it without a review or even a whit of what it was. Does the moderator have that right? Yes, I think he does have that right. It is not unreasonable for the moderator to expect the readers of his group to read the discussion group if there is one. If not read it, then at least scan the headers! If any of those people who wrote messages to Bill had seen any of the discussion on Telix, they would not have flamed him! Stefan Eichenberger writes: Stefan> Well, what's the moderators job then? First, he simply grabbed the file because there was enough interest on c.b.i.p.d. This is the first posting I have seen from Bill that has not had any kind of description. He is not an automated moderator, and the fact that he considered the program reviewed enough on .d is good enough for me. Second, you don't have to download everything. If you kept up to date with .d you would have known that Telix was a communications package. That's what .d is for ... to discuss the postings and for the moderator to see the mood of his readers. At least, IMHO. Stefan> What's the difference between completely uncommented postings and Stefan> an un- moderated news group with its high noise level? BTW., Stefan> remember the good reviews by Rahul? We don't have Rahul anymore. At least we have the group. I personally was not too impressed with Rahul, primarily because about half the time Zoo does not work for me and then the postings in binaries died. I haven't been on the net that long as some people, so I wasn't around for when Rahul originally took c.b.i.p. I think Bill has done an impressive job so far. Just get off his back, people, he's doing what he thinks is best for the group. (highly irritated) austin -- austin@bucsf.bu.edu (big responses should go to austin@buengf.bu.edu) "Death is dead.
