USA Lines: 41 hello. I am a long time user of vi under various versions of Unix. For a number of very good reasons, I have found it advisable to learn and use emacs. I have a 386 based clone, on which I have installed an older local archive of Freemacs. I must often dial into a large machine running Ultrix, and would like to avail myself of the GNU emacs there, and I would dearly wish to use the same key bindings in both environments. To this end, I need the following. 1. Advice, comments, tips, lore, rumors, gripes, & gotchas. This must be a common problem, with many solutions. 2. A terminal emulator or comm package that allows the full use of an AT style extended keyboard. I am presently using Procomm, which uses the key. I have kermit 2.25 but haven't used it much. A settings list of key bindings for kermit would be great. otherwise, any other solution is quite welcome. 3. A fairly complete termcap/terminfo descriptor for an AT with an extended keyboard. 4. All the mint code I can beg, borrow, or (figuratively) steal. There are a number of functions I would like for Freemacs. Rather than try to list them, I thought I'd just make a general plea and catalog the results, if any. I imagine my needs are not unique. If there is interest, I can post the collection. If it would help to close your eyes and picture me sniveling and groveling, by all means, do so. Follow-ups to me only please. TIA source ~/.real_clever_sign_off Lee Bolton -- R.
