We bought one a few months ago and are very pleased with the image quality. It will scan in 24-bit true color at 400, 300, 200, 150, or 25 dpi. The scanner area is larger than most -- you can scan 11x17 images. Most of the scanners on the market are for Macintoshes or PCs. The Mitsubishi scanner is also Sun compatable. The model we bought had a GPIB interface so we had to buy a GPIB/VME card to fit into the Sun. Mitsubishi is coming out with a SCSI interface soon which will make interfacing to the Suns even easier. I'm not sure of the price, but last year they were quoting retail of around $10,000 for the scanner.
