This posting is in response to several complaints about the difficulty
of upgrading minix, too many patches, only good for academics and
students, etc. I have been away from minix for a couple of years (I used
version 1.0 on an XT) but my understanding is that Andy created minix
to support teaching operating systems and I assume that this is his 
major purpose in continuing with the project. If this is true, perhaps
it is unfair to criticize him because it minix does not serve a 
different purpose very well. Correct me if I am wrong. I am sure Andy
will have a comment about this.

P.S. I have a 386 machine ordered and intend to install minix on it.
