It came out of a friends MAC, after the drive had died. I'm really not sure how "dead" it is though...the motor seems to start up rather slowly (like the quantum drives with super-glue for grease on the spindles). After looking at the drive I was wondering if it was O.K. to open up the plate on the underside that covers the motor (Note: I'm not talking about the top plate that covers the entire drive), is this chamber seperate from the rest of the drive (i.e. I could open it without a clean room). If I can't easily figure out what is wrong with it I'll probably send it to one of the hard drive repair places I've seen in computer shopper...any recomendations? One final question: Anybody know where to get a case and power supply for this thing at a REASONABLE price (I don't consider Tulin's Ahive case at $129 reasonable...I can buy a complete PC tower case with 250 Watt power supply for that!)? Thanks in advance for any and all help. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew Wack Gravitation cannot be held responsible Internet : wack@udel.edu for people falling in love -- Albert Einstein
