I've seen it used for Apple standalone disk boxes, although DB25 is also used there sometimes. HP has Winchesters from 100-660 megs, as well as MO drives and a DAT tape drive that use it for the external cabling. At least two companies sell Exabytes in boxes that use the connectors. There are insulation-displacement connectors available that go from those connectors to ribbon cable. AMP calls this general type of connector "CHAMP" and Amphenol calls them "Micro-Ribbon".
