                                      Abstract

          When designing CIM communications subsystems, compatibility has
          been an overriding concern, paying little attention to real-time
          requirements.  Professor Shin will propose and analyze a simple
          but powerful solution to the problem of delivering messages
          before their deadline in CIM systems.
