Try this... Goto the options menu and select modem. Go to the bottom of the window and select "Ignore No Carrier". This sounds like it might be what you need to get it working right. I don't have 2 amigas (Green w/ envy :-) so I don't have positive proof that this will work for you. But it might be worth a try..
