I just tried something interesting on my A500 keyboard that looks like the same symptom. Try this: Go to any key and hold it till it starts repeating. While holding that key press another key and note that the first key (still being pressed) gives way to the second key pressed and stops repeating. Even while holding the first key. The keyboard will work fine even with the first key stuck down. Summary: You might just have a stuck key somewhere. Try getting a hold of somebody elses keyboard and see if the problem persists. If not look to one of the 8520's If you find that this is not the problem you might just have to replace the 6570 chip that is responsible for decoding the keyboard. There is also a 7423 STROBED Nor gate in there that might be malfunctioning. You might want to start comparing versions and run numbers (if possible) with somebody else who is having this problem as it could have been a bad batch of chips that slipped through QC at the manufacturer for your particular run.
