I had an early 1000 that had occassional r/w errors on its internal floppy when the monitor was on top, but that was probably because it was relatively unshielded. I'd have thought that a dirty great metal case would provide enough shielding. And I'd have thought that the machine was designed with a monitor sitting on top in mind.
