It concerns the ST506 side of the 2090A. I have a Kronos controller hooked up to an ST157N, and I boot off it, and use it as my primary drive. Okay fine. I then added a 2090A in an empty slot, and hooked the Rodime 3055 to it, and a old 10 meg ST412 drive in an external box. The system boots up fine, and I can see and use all the drives with no problem. BTW the 2090A thinks it is a second controller, and assigned the drives an address of DI0: and DI1: respectively. That's okay with me. Now, if I do not power on the external 10 meg drive and try to boot, the system hangs apparently waiting for the drive to come ready. If the system is booted, and I power off the external 10 meg drive, the internal Rodime shuts itself down. I do not mount these devices from s/startup-sequence or s/startupii. I removed the auto-boot ROMs from the 2090A. I would like to be able to boot without powering on the external drive, as it is really just work space. Any ideas are appreciated. -- Jim English MD-IPC | JENGLISH@D37.TYMNET.COM or jenglish@tardis.tymnet.com (214)637-7406 Dallas | UUCP: ...!{ames,pyramid}!oliveb!tymix!tardis!jenglish
