It is a very enjoyable game. Another racing game (my favorite) is 'Great American Cross Country Road Race' by Activision (or maybe Electronic Arts - my copy is at home). It can be found sometimes at closeout counters at big software houses. I saw a couple of copies at Babbages a couple of months ago. As to control in Pole Position, I find the Atari version pretty easy to control with a joystick. I have seen a pirate copy (maybe an early beta copy) that was very difficult to control.
