A manual I laid my hands on refers in passing to "national code pages" and
demonstrates the use of them with a .BAT file which contains
statements like 
MODE CON CP PREPARE=((850) \DOS\EGA.CPI)
MODE CON CP SELECT=850

The MS-DOS (V3.2) manual to my T1200 says nothing about a CON
parameter to MODE.  What are these exciting-sounding things?
